Stainless Steel • Copper • Brass • And More
Metals can be formed and finished into just about any color or texture imaginable. If you, your architect or interior designer can dream it, Kollmar Sheet Metal can bring it to life in our Georgetown workshop. We pour our hearts, expertise and master craftsmanship into every project and are happy to help you explore every possibility from design through installation.
Inside the home, we handcraft everything from custom stainless steel countertops and oven vent hoods to decorative duct lines and lighting fixtures. Outside the home, we forge breathtaking architectural details like chimney caps, scuppers, door pans, saddles and gutters in addition to decorative landscape accents and fixtures.
Steel is a timeless alloy, essential to modern home design and prestige home restoration. Sage advice and written estimates are always free; we look forward to discussing your next project with you.
Hammered Copper Mantle
A notable Seattle architect came to us with a rough sketch for a library centerpiece that he wanted to feel like a metallic waterfall. We made CAD drawings from the sketch to help us lay out each piece of metal in full scale. Full copper sheets were textured and colored by hammer and flame in hues ranging from blood red and orange to rich browns and rust. We cut the CAD patterns by hand. The full piece was assembled on site and mounted on the wall.
Stainless Steel Counter Top
Our client loves to cook, so we created a stainless steel countertop that fit the design of his elegant home while invoking the feel of a world-class commercial kitchen. We welded the chosen brand name sink into the counter, finishing it to give the appearance of a single monolithic piece of steel. Our craftsman created a template of the counter sub base on site; next, we fabricated the piece in our shop, including the finish so it could be dropped in place. The size of this piece required a crew of six to lift it up and over a balcony rail, through two doorways and into the kitchen.
Weathering Steel Decorative Screen
An otherwise ordinary residential entrance is given a dramatic makeover with this custom-made screen laser cut from 10-gauge weathering steel. This alloy, also known as Corten steel, is intended to withstand harsh weather without paint. We laser cut the leaf images based upon the architect’s design. The interesting shadow images were a happy accident created by stacking the different panels on top of each other and leaving them in the weather for an extended period of time.
