Stainless Steel • Galvanized Steel • Copper • Brass • And More
Kollmar Sheet Metal has been fabricating precision metal projects for commercial and industrial clients throughout Seattle since 1927. When a stock item just won’t do, Kollmar will handcraft whatever you need – any size, any metal substrate, for any possible use. Custom steel can bring bold architectural design to life or simply serve practical and functional uses. We can work with your design or engineer one for you. In turn, we can manage installation or instruct your crews how to do it. From your first call through the install, our experts are there to answer all of your questions.
Louis Dreyfus Grain Silo Catwalk
The Louis Dreyfus grain silos on Pier 58 are an iconic part of the Elliot Bay skyline. Sitting atop each of the silos, 200 feet up, are catwalk stairs, handrails and tie-off points, all custom made by Kollmar Sheet Metal. When the client came to us with the project, we went to the site, took measurements and submitted drawings. Approved concepts were fabricated in galvanized steel in our shop.
We managed the full installation too, with a little help from a very big crane.
Louis Dreyfus Grain Silo Exhaust Duct & Telescoping Arms
Kollmar Sheet Metal also fabricated an exhaust duct for the grain spouts, built upon an apparatus with a telescoping radius. This allowed large volumes of grain to transfer into the silos more efficiently while minimizing grain dust and the related clean-up work. We made four sets for the client, each fabricated from 3/16th plate steel.
Mod Pizza Stainless Steel Pizza Oven Wrap and Prep Shelf
As the name suggests, Mod creates artisan pizza and an unforgettable experience. Part of the charm lies in the restaurant design. Kollmar Sheet Metal helped bring Mod’s design visions to life with cosmetic and functional metal work. We wrapped their stucco pizza oven in bold stainless steel and extended the steel design throughout the kitchen, including galvanized steel shelving and prep tables.
Mod Pizza Custom Chairs
For the Mod Pizza dining room, wobble-prone store-bought bar stools were never an option. Kollmar Sheet Metal fabricated three restaurants’ worth of angle-iron steel bar stools that were paired with comfortable wood seats to provide a relaxing and inviting dining experience.
Canlis Valet Entrance Copper Soffit
Canlis is more than a restaurant; it’s one of Seattle’s most celebrated culinary jewels. To quote the architectural timeline on their website, “In 1950, Peter Canlis set out to design the ‘world’s most beautiful restaurant’.” He employed architect Roland Terry for the original, iconic design. Interior designer Doug Rasar handled the most recent redesign in 2005. That’s where we come in. Kollmar Sheet Metal fabricated the dramatic copper soffit that frames the lighting in the valet area, creating a stunning space to welcome the arrival and departure of guests.
Mountaineers Club Steel Sign
Founded in 1906, the Mountaineers club is more than 12,000 people strong. They are a permanent part of the landscape in the Pacific Northwest, therefore, their sign needed to denote their mission, their strength and their permanency. Kollmar Sheet Metal took an illustration of an adventurous man, woman and child and laser-etched the image out of COR-TEN weathering steel. The sign proudly marks the entrance of their Seattle location, the largest Mountaineers branch.
Garrett Davis Photography Sign
Seattle-native Garrett Davis is a photographer whose work has graced both the covers of the New York Times and USA Today. He focuses on weddings these days, capturing images that will last a lifetime. His sign needed to signify forever and shine brightly no matter what Seattle weather came its way. Kollmar Sheet Metal laser-etched his logo onto brushed stainless steel and riveted a steel frame around it. The end result is elegant, urban and timeless.
